China Airlines (CAL) has launched two new cross-Strait flights connecting Taipei with destinations in western China.
On 25 June, the Taiwanese national carrier launched a new seasonal service from Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport to Urumqi, the capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang region. Operated three times a week (Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays) using a 307-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft, the route becomes CAL’s longest cross-Strait service, with a flying time of approximately six hours.
Also last week, CAL launched flights between Taipei and Lijiang, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed town in southwest China’s Yunnan province. Flights will operate three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) direct from Taoyuan airport, using a 158-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Following the launch of the two new routes CAL now offers 113 weekly flights to 26 destinations in Taiwan and China.
