China Airlines has deployed its brand new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the Taipei-Los Angeles route.

The new aircraft comes equipped with 358 seats, including 40 flat-bed seats in a brand new business class cabin, plus 62 seats in premium economy and 256 in economy. It also features the new ‘Family Couch’ concept that converts 10 rows of three economy class seats into flat beds.

The aircraft is equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi and a new ‘seat chat’ concept that allows passengers send text messages to other seats.

CAL has ordered seven B777-300ERs and has so far taken delivery of three. These will be used to replace its older B747-400 aircraft. And the airline’s fleet renewal strategy will continue in the coming years, with the arrival of CAL’s new fleet of Airbus A350-900s from 2016.

The B777-300ER will operate the Taipei-LA route twice a day. And the US roll-out of the new aircraft will continue in 2015, with the B777-300ER being deployed on flights to New York from February and San Francisco from September.
