Dusit Dubai sees substantial growth in Chinese visitors
Dusit Thani Dubai has reported 449% growth in revenue from the Chinese market so far this year. The property has registered year to date growth of 4,187 room nights from China compared to the same period last year and a revenue growth of more than AED1 million (US$200,000).
The hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Leon Salinel, attributes this growth to efforts in catering for unique requirements of Chinese guests. “Few Mainland Chinese are confident in their English language abilities,” commented Salinel. In response the hotel has recruited Chinese-speaking telephone operators, receptionists, concierge staff, housekeepers and sales executives, as well as a Chinese chef.
Salinel attaches a high value to these guests, saying; “Chinese are great guests to have, with anything from five – 30 rooms included in the group, staying for a minimum of three nights, and not at the very low rates often attributed to this market.”
The hotel is developing more services to cater for the market including a special loyalty scheme and a room service menu in Chinese language. Dusit Thani Dubai will also be joining the DTCM trade show in China in October, visiting cities such as Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou.
