American Airlines’ bankrupt parent AMR has said it could merge with one of five airlines to secure its future.
According to Reuters, the carrier is eyeing a merger with either US Airways, JetBlue, Alaska Air Group, Frontier Airlines or Virgin America as well as a restructuring plan.
American Airlines, which entered a venture with British Airways’ parent International Airlines Group last year, is said to be feeling pressured into a merger two months after AMR filed for bankruptcy.
