Hertz has acquired CCL

Hertz UK has acquired Dorset-based accident management company CCL Vehicle Rentals to grow in the vehicle replacement market.

The car rental company has followed in the footsteps of its US parent in the sector, which will see CCL act as a subsidiary to provide replacement cars and vans for insurance companies, brokers and manufacturers.

“Hertz’s entry to the UK vehicle insurance replacement market via the acquisition of CCL brings greater choice and an exceptional and comprehensive service to the industry. Already worth GBP1 billion in the UK, this segment continues to evolve and we’re excited to be a part of it, especially as it complements our significant off airport expansion plans,” said Michel Taride, group RAC president at Hertz International.

“Building on our existing leasing replacement services and extensive infrastructure in the UK, we will offer a convenient and competitive alternative to the current dominant players,” he added.

CCL posted a turnover in excess of US$32 million (GBP21m) in 2012 and will now benefit from a new back office system and financial backing from Hertz.
