Hotel NEO, the Indonesian hotel brand operated by Archipelago International, will expand overseas for the first time in 2015.
The NEO concept, which Archipelago calls “superior select service”, was launched in Indonesia in 2013. And in the second quarter of next year Hotel NEO will arrive on the Malaysian island of Penang, marking the brand’s international debut.
Archipelago’s vice president of sales & marketing, Norbert Vas, explained what guests can expect from the new hotel.
“Hotel NEO+ Penang… will offer a 100% smoke-free environment – one of the defining features of NEO Hotels that ranks them as the first and only 100% non-smoking select service hotel brand. NEOs also offer guest rooms with a full set of amenities and upmarket facilities without the high price-tag, staying truthful to the group’s credo that well designed and exciting hotels do not need to be expensive,” said Vas.
Located in Georgetown, Hotel NEO+ Penang will feature 196 rooms and suites, all decorated in a contemporary style with “uncluttered open spaces”. Rooms will offer complimentary Wi-Fi, LED TVs, home entertainment systems, and writing desks with universal electrical outlets.
Hotel facilities will include four meeting rooms, two function rooms, a swimming pool, gym and a lounge area that Archipelago said would be suitable for “private events, weddings, meetings and exhibitions”.
Archipelago currently operates nine Hotel NEOs in Indonesia, in markets including Jakarta, Bali and Semarang. But the brand is expanding rapidly, with new additions planned for such cities as Medan, Makassar and Solo in the future.
