LATAM Airlines Group (LATAM) has announced that it will operate three weekly non-stop flights between Lima, Peru and Barcelona, Spain, beginning 15 December.
Currently, around 8% of passengers flying on LATAM Peru’s Lima-Madrid service connect via Barcelona. The airline group projects that more than 19,000 passengers per year will fly the new non-stop route.
“Our goal is to be the airline of choice for passengers travelling to, from and within Latin America and that’s why we continue to strengthen our connectivity both in Europe and our wider international network,” said Roberto Alvo, senior vice president of International and Alliances, LATAM Airlines Group. “This new direct service between Lima and Barcelona will offer passengers on both sides of the Atlantic greater convenience, shorter journey times and access to more destinations. As an airline group, we now serve six major cities across Europe, offering unrivalled connectivity to more than 110 destinations across Latin America.”
The service will be operated by Boeing 767 aircraft with 216 seats in Economy and 16 seats in Premium Business, offering 180-degree lie-flat seats.
Initially, LATAM Airlines Peru flight LA2430 will depart Lima at 19:50 (local time) on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Barcelona (El Prat) at 15:25 (local time) the following day. The return flight (LA2431) will depart Barcelona at 23:55 (local time) on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Lima at 07:45 the next day (local time).
From 25 March 2017, flight LA2430 will depart Lima at 19:45 (local time) on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Barcelona (El Prat) at 14:25 (local time) the following day. The return flight (LA2431) will depart Barcelona at 23:55 (local time) on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Lima at 06:45 the next day (local time).
The flight will complement LATAM Airline Group’s four weekly non-stop flights between São Paulo and Barcelona as well its daily non-stop services from Lima, São Paulo, Santiago and Guayaquil (Ecuador) to Madrid, where customers can connect to and from Barcelona via oneworld partner Iberia. The group also operates non-stop services from Latin America to a further four European destinations: London, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan.
