Mantra Group is continuing to expand in Australia with plans for two new properties in Queensland.
The hotelier, which currently operates more than 115 properties, will rebrand a hotel in Brisbane under its midscale BreakFree brand, while the northern city of Townsville will see the opening of a new-built upscale Mantra-branded hotel.
First to open in March 2014, the BreakFree Fortitude Valley Brisbane will offer a range of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, plus a swimming pool, barbeque area and gymnasium. The property, which is currently known as the Skyline Court apartment complex, will undergo a renovation before reopening as a BreakFree.
“We are pleased to offer our corporate and leisure clients another price point option in Brisbane and believe BreakFree Fortitude Valley is the ideal property to launch the brand in the Queensland capital,” said Mantra Group’s CEO, Bob East.
In Townsville, the brand new 185-room Mantra Townsville hotel is expected to open in 2016, as part of new leisure precinct planned for the city’s CBD. It will offer a pool, gym and spa, plus extensive conference and banqueting facilities.
“The Townsville market is definitely ready for a new project like this and with Mantra being one of Australia’s most dynamic hotel brands we are pleased to have a presence in this fast developing region,” East added.
The new hotels add to Mantra’s Australian pipeline, which also includes the Peppers Dunmore Brisbane and Peppers Docklands Melbourne – scheduled to open in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
