Qantas To Re-Launch Perth-London Nonstop Service
Qantas will resume its daily nonstop service from Perth to London, from 27 March.
Due to restrictions imposed in Western Australia, the relaunch was delayed. However, the move had been anticipated earlier.
As a result, Qantas has used Darwin as an alternate departure airport.
It will be the same 236-seat B787-9s with 42 business class, 28 premium economy seats and 165 regular economy seats used for the flight.
The service which commences on 27 March, will be operated with the following schedules. Flights are now on sale.
- QF10 departs London Heathrow at 1155, arriving in Perth at 1140 the following day. Flight time is 16 hours 45 minutes.
- QF9 departs Perth at 1850, arriving in London Heathrow at 0505 the next day. Flight time is 17 hours 15 minutes.
Qantas has been flying nonstop to London since 2018 and plans to establish nonstop Sydney-London flights as part of Project Sunrise in the coming years.
Qantas had chosen the Airbus A350-1000 to fly nonstop from Sydney to London or Sydney to the rest of Europe in 2019.
However, due to the pandemic, the launch of a nonstop flight from Sydney to London has been put on hold.
Qantas must offer nonstop flights to Europe to compete with the several indirect airlines that operated over the kangaroo route before the pandemic.
Due to the pandemic, more changes remain possible and any limitations that governments may enforce.
