Singapore Airlines‘ new premium economy class is now available for booking.
The new cabins will be launched on 9 August 2015 on select flights from Singapore to Sydney, before being rolled out to other destinations served by the airline’s Airbus A380s, A350s and Boeing 777-300ERs.
First announced in 2013, the new class will offer seats ranging from 18.5 to 19.5 inches (47-49.5cm) in width, with an eight-inch recline. Seats will also include 13.3-inch HD in-flight entertainment screens, two USB ports, power outlets and additional storage space.
Premium economy passengers will be offered a greater choice of F&B, including champagne, priority check-in and a larger baggage allowance.
“We have been heartened by the highly positive public reaction to our new premium economy class since our plans were announced,” said SIA’s CEO, Goh Choon Phong. “Many of our customers’ suggestions have been incorporated into the new product, and we are confident it will be well received by travellers.”
Eventually, the new class will be available on 19 A380s, 19 B777s and 20 A350s. Following Sydney, other routes featured in the roll-out will include Beijing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, London, Mumbai, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Zurich.
