SilkAir has launched flights to two new destinations in Indonesia – Semarang and Makassar.
The airline, which is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), commenced flights to Semarang, Central Java, on 29 July, with three weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) direct from Singapore’s Changi Airport.
Then on 1 August, the regional carrier commenced thrice weekly flights (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) to Makassar, on the island of Sulawesi.
The two new services will be operated by Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, featuring both business and economy cabins.
“SilkAir is excited to add Makassar and Semarang to our extensive network in this part of the region. We are impressed with the growth of air travel to and from Indonesia and we are confident that the two new services will be well received,” said SilkAir’s CEO, Leslie Thng.
Following the launch of the two new cities, SilkAir expands its Indonesian network to 11 destinations – Balikpapan, Bandung, Lombok, Makassar, Manado, Medan, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Semarang, Solo and Surabaya.
