Strong response for Thailand online campaign
An online marketing campaign by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has been hailed a success after it generated more than 24 million online visits.
The campaign, entitled ‘Discover the Other You’, was organised by the TAT in a global effort to boost its internet and social-media profile and attract more repeat visitors in the off-peak months. Key target markets were Singapore, Japan, Australia, Germany, Scandinavia, the UK, US and Canada.
The campaign generated a total of 24,008,170 views from 119 countries in the space of just two months, while the campaign video was watched more than 1.2 million times and a digital brochure downloaded by more than 3,700 people.
The campaign was based around the theme of ‘creative tourism’, offering people the chance to learn about Thai arts and culture.
Suraphol Svetasreni, Governor of TAT, commented; “Creative tourism is an increasingly popular trend that gives visitors a chance to really experience host destinations up close. In an era when people seek out unforgettable special experiences, the ability to learn-by-doing about Thai art, culture and traditional practices is truly unique.
“The concept of tourism marketing in the ‘Marketing 3.0’ era must have three-dimensional elements which are useful to society, save the environment and achieve sustainable profit for all relevant sectors irrespective of tourists, tour agencies and entrepreneurs.
“Creative tourism fits the Marketing 3.0 concept very well and Thailand has various distinguished art and cultural heritages as unique places in the world that are ready to add value to tourism resources in the form of Creative Tourism,” he added.
Viewers were invited to participate in the online game by first watching a video series on three creative tourism themes – adventure, culture and spirituality.
