The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is hosting a roadshow in Iran this week, aimed at promoting Thailand as a destination for the country’s travellers.
The first event was held in the capital city Tehran on 16 April, before heading to the city of Shiraz on 18 April. Following this, the TAT will move to Qatar and host a similar event in Doha on 20 April. Mahan Air has partnered with the TAT on the Iranian leg of the tour.
As part of the event, the TAT will showcase local and community experiences available in Thailand.
“Promoting the local experience will not only benefit visitors, but also the local people as well as travel agents. We strongly believe that each local community of Thailand can deliver distinctive, genuine, unique hospitality and Thai culture with new exciting experiences to tourists. Also, this will create new and unique quality products for travel agents to offer to their customers,” said TAT deputy governor, Tanes Petsuwan.
In 2016, Thailand welcomed 585,633 tourists from the Middle East. The top five source markets from the region, in terms of visitor expenditure, were UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar.
The roadshow in Iran and Qatar comes ahead of the TAT’s appearance at the Arabian Travel Market, which takes place in Dubai from 24-27 April 2017.
