Thailand takes Indian roadshow to Jaipur, Bhubaneswar

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has expanded its Indian tourism roadshow to two more cities – Jaipur and Bhubaneswar.
The nationwide series of promotional events kicked off in Delhi on 21 July, and arrived in the Rajasthan capital of Jaipur on 23 July. It will now travel to Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha state, on Friday 25 July.
The roadshow is a part of the TAT’s marketing plan to attract more first-time visitors from India to Thailand. The addition of Jaipur and Bhubaneswar to the itinerary demonstrates the TAT’s increasing focus in India’s fast-growing second and third tier cities.
Each city will play host to a B2B session, where Indian travel agents will be able to meet with the Thai travel trade. This will be followed by a presentation of Thai tourism products, cocktails and a dinner.
The TAT’s director in Delhi, Runjuan Tongrut, will also provides updates to Indian agents on new destinations and new trends, including upcoming theme parks, health and wellness facilities, adventure travel and new hotel developments.
Thai destinations being promoted in India include Ayutthaya, Sukhothai, Khao Yai, Koh Chang, Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Krabi, Phuket, Hua Hin, Kanchanaburi, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Indian travel trade partners and media for their support in helping to make Thailand the most popular destination for Indian outbound travellers,” said Ms Runjuan.
“We are looking forward to working closely with them to make Thailand their first choice destination for the upcoming holiday season, especially around Diwali time in October.”
India is one of only seven countries generating more than one million annual visitor arrivals to Thailand. In 2013, India contributed 1.03m arrivals to the Kingdom, up 4.3% compared to 2012.
