Sébastien Bazin has been appointed chairman and CEO of Accor. Bazin joins the hotel group from Colony Capital, which he has been running since 1997 and has worked in finances since 1985. Philippe Citerne is vice chairman of the Accor board.
Stephen D’Alfonso is to become head of public affairs at ABTA. D’Alfonso will take over the lobbying role from 1 September from Luke Pollard, who has been selected as the Labour and Co-operative Parliamentary Candidate for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport in the next general election. Pollard will take up an interim role of head of European development where he will represent ABTA in Brussels.
Gareth Banner has been appointed general manager at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London. banner was most recently general manager of boutique hotel The Hempel and is also an ex-hotel manager of The Cavendish.
Anthony Barrett has been named as the new general manager of the Imperial Wharf, London. Barrett joins the refurbished hotel from Jurys Inn Birmingham where he was deputy general manager. He started his career with Jurys Inn back in 2004.
Maria Calvo has joined Dusit International as regional senior sales manager based in London. Calvo will be responsible for the Spanish, Italian and Benelux markets as well as select UK accounts. Her previous roles have included looking after the same markets for Choice Hotels and InterContinental Hotels Group.
Frederick de Marcy Chelin has been appointed director of sales and marketing for the Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa. Chelin has taken on the new role this week ahead of the resort’s opening in December. He has previously spent four years at Starwood.
