Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch a new service to Athens next year.
Operating on a seasonal basis from 9 June to 9 October 2014, the new route will aim to take advantage of strong summer demand for travel between Singapore and Greece. For the four-month period, flights will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, using a Boeing 777-200ER.
Flights will depart Changi airport at 0205, arriving at Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport at 0830 the same day. The return leg will leave the Greek capital at 1300, arriving back into Singapore at 0455 the following day.
SIA previously operated the Singapore-Athens route until October 2012, but suspended the service due to what it called a “prolonged period of challenging operating conditions”.
