Hilton has signed an agreement to launch its first hotel in the Malaysian city of Kota Kinabalu.
The company has penned an agreement with Pekah Hotels Sdn Bhd to manage the Hilton Kota Kinabalu – the ninth Hilton property in Malaysia, which is scheduled to open in 2015.
“We have been operating in Malaysia for over 30 years, and Hilton Kota Kinabalu will be our ninth property in this great country. As the capital city of Sabah, Kota Kinabalu acts as the main industrial and commercial centre for the state. With a strong partner like Pekah Hotels Sdn Bhd, we are confident that Hilton Kota Kinabalu will set the benchmark for quality hospitality experiences catering to both domestic and international travellers,” said Andrew Clough, Hilton’s senior vice president, of development for the Middle East & Asia Pacific.
The 12-storey Hilton Kota Kinabalu is located in the centre of Sabah’s state capital, and will feature 313 rooms, including 17 suites.
Facilities will include two restaurants, one of which will overlook the rooftop pool, plus a spa, health club, business centre and 2,500m² of event space, including a 1,000m² ballroom.
Hilton currently operates eight hotels in Malaysia, with locations in Kuala Lumpur, Petalingjaya, Johor Bahru, Subang, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and Sarawak’s Batang Ai National Park.
