Hilton is expanding its Waldorf Astoria brand in Indonesia.

Just a week after announcing plans for its first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Bali, the US hotel giant has continued the expansion of its ultra luxury brand the country with the signing of a management agreement for the Waldorf Astoria Jakarta.

The new 181-room hotel will be located in a 74-storey mixed-use tower on Jalan MH Thamrin road, in the centre of the Indonesian capital. By current standards, it will be the tallest building in the city.

“Opening a Waldorf Astoria hotel in a cosmopolitan capital city such as Jakarta will augment the brand’s awareness in Southeast Asia and pave the way for future landmark projects in the region,” said Andrew Clough, Hilton’s senior vice president for development for the Middle East & Asia Pacific. “We are pleased to be working with an established partner like PT Putragaya Wahana to introduce our trademark of luxury to Jakarta.”

Facilities at the new hotel will include two restaurants, a bar, lounge, library, spa, outdoor swimming pool and health club. It will also cater to the MICE market with a business centre, several meeting rooms and a 2,000m² ballroom.

Waldorf Astoria Jakarta is due to open in 2018 – a year after the launch of the 96-villa Waldorf Astoria Bali.
