Accor has announced that it will rebrand The Sebel Newcastle Beach hotel later this month, following its recent acquisition of the Mirvac hotel group.
From 26 July 2012, the New South Wales property will be rebadged as the Novotel Newcastle Beach.
Simon McGrath, Chief Operating Officer of Accor Asia Pacific, said the hotel’s rebrand would boost further business to the Hunter region, which is currently populated by domestic hotel brands.
“Given the scale and reputation of the Novotel brand and its worldwide reach, there are significant opportunities for Newcastle to benefit from the arrival of Novotel,” McGrath said. “We as a group have close to 10 hotels in the Hunter which makes us the largest driver of tourism, meetings and business events in the region. Having such an aggregation of hotels in the region means we have the resources to attract additional business for the area,” he added.
Located just metres from the beach, Novotel Newcastle Beach features 88 guestrooms, some with ocean views, as well as a gymnasium, spa, steam room, and three meeting rooms.
