Air China has launched its first ever flight to Hawaii.

The inaugural service between Beijing and Honolulu departed on 20 January 2014, following a ceremony at Beijing Capital International Airport, which featured traditional Hawaiian dancers.

Air China will serve the route three times a week, with flights departing Beijing at 0130 every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Honolulu at 1630. The return flight will then leave the Hawaiian capital at 2200, getting back into Beijing at 0520 two days later. All services will be operated using Air China’s 237-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

The new service becomes the first direct air link between Beijing and Hawaii, but Hawaiian Airlines is also planning to launch the route later this year.

Honolulu also becomes Air China’s fifth destination in the US, following New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston.
