Air China welcomed two more Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft last month.
One arrived on 10 December and the second touched down in Beijing on 31 December.
The two jumbo jets, which are the third and fourth B747-8s delivered to Air China, come equipped with a total of 365 seats in a four-cabin layout, including 12 in first class, 54 in business class, 66 in premium economy and 233 in economy class. This makes the B747-8 the largest passenger aircraft in Air China’s fleet.
Since the introduction of its first B747-8 in October 2014, Air China has flown the aircraft on domestic routes to Guangzhou, Shanghai and Chengdu.
And on 7 January 2015, the carrier will deploy the aircraft on the Beijing-New York JFK route for the first time, replacing the B777-300ER currently used for the daily service. Flights will depart Beijing’s Capital International Airport at 1300, arriving at JFK International Airport at 1330.
Air China has ordered seven 747-8s and the remaining three will all be delivered to the carrier by June 2015.
