Hilton Worldwide has launched a new digital check-in and room selection solution.
Now live across more than 4,100 hotels worldwide, the technology allows members of the group’s loyalty scheme Hilton HHonors, to check-in and select their exact room from digital floor plans via their desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
Guests will then be able to further customise their stay by requesting upgrades or making special requests.
“Digital check-in and room selection puts our guests in the driving seat and gives them unprecedented choice and control across their entire stay,” said Geraldine Calpin, global head of digital at Hilton Worldwide.
“Never before have guests been able to check-in, select their room from a digital floor plan and customise their room ready for arrival. We are truly revolutionising the industry and this is just the tip of the iceberg for digital at Hilton Worldwide.”
This roll-out follows the recent launch of Hilton’s new mobile key technology, which gives guests the ability to bypass the check-in desk and unlock their hotel room doors with their smartphone. This system will be available in the US across four of Hilton’s brands – Hilton, Conrad, Waldorf Astoria and Canopy by Hilton – in 2015, and is expected to be available at the majority of the group’s global hotels by the end of 2016.
The roll-out of the digital check-in and room selection system coincides with the launch of an updated Hilton HHonors iOS app.
