Hilton will continue its expansion across South Korea, with the launch of its first property in the port city of Busan.

Scheduled to open in 2016, the Hilton Busan will be part of the new East Busan Tourism Complex – one of 10 major development projects earmarked for the expanding city. Other facilities in the new development will include a golf course, theme park and residences.

The 10-storey hotel will span over 75,000m² of coastal land 8km from Busan city centre, offering views of the Korea Strait.

“The introduction of our flagship Hilton property to Busan marks our commitment to continue our expansion in South Korea,” said Andrew Clough, Hilton’s senior vice president of development for the Middle East & Asia Pacific.

“Busan, South Korea’s second metropolis after Seoul, is a key destination for leisure and business, and we are thrilled to be the first leading global hospitality company that is part of the landmark East Busan Tourism Complex project.”

Hilton Busan will offer a total of 306 rooms and suites, plus a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool, spa, health club, business centre and a ballroom.

It will become Hilton’s sixth property in Korea, following the Hilton Namhae Golf & Spa Resort, Hilton Gyeongju, Grand Hilton Seoul, Millennium Hilton Seoul and Conrad Seoul.
