Hilton Worldwide has launched a new campaign designed to find the top talents from the food & beverage departments of its hotels in Southeast Asia.
The ‘Hilton SEA F&B Masters’ talent competition has four categories – culinary, barista, sommelier and bar – and is running at all 26 Hilton properties in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, plus Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Next month, the inaugural competition will culminate with the grand final event at the DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta Diponegoro.
“The Hilton SEA F&B Masters helps us develop and celebrate the amazing breadth of talent we have in this region while also raising the bar of our F&B offerings,” said William Costley, Hilton’s vice president of operations for Southeast Asia.
“It is not merely a competition to find the best chef or barista in our portfolio. It’s more about acknowledging the talent within our team and helping them develop further. The contestants are getting practical and theoretical tutelage while being put in real-life situations with actual guests. It’s accelerated learning that is quickly helping them hone their skills and creativity in their chosen craft.”
The Hilton SEA F&B Masters final will be judged by a panel of experts across the four categories. They will crown the winners of the Culinary Cup, the Barista Cup, the Sommelier Cup and the Bar Cup, with each winner receiving a training and development experience in a city associated with their craft.
The Culinary Cup winner will travel to Tokyo, the Barista Cup winner to Melbourne, the Sommelier Cup winner to Adelaide and the Bar Cup winner to Amsterdam.
