Scoot and Tigerair Singapore are strengthening their partnership, teaming up on new routes, coordinating schedules and integrating their reservations systems.
The two low-cost carriers, which are both subsidiaries of Singapore Airlines, were granted anti-trust immunity (ATI) last year to work closer together. And from early January, the airlines started operating joint venture services on two routes – Singapore–Hong Kong and Singapore-Bangkok.
This cooperation will deepen next month when Scoot boosts the frequency of its Singapore-Perth service to daily and Tigerair pulls out of the route.
“We have long maintained that Tigerair and Scoot are natural partners, and the early gains from our new phase of co-operation reinforce this belief,” said Lee Lik Hsin, group CEO of Tigerair. “The upcoming roll-out of joint-venture routes, deeper system integration and schedule coordination will further strengthen both partners and, most importantly, provide greater convenience and flight options to our guests.”
Scoot’s CEO, Campbell Wilson, added that the airlines are seeing “significant early benefits” from the partnership, including a “rise in connecting passenger volumes”.
The two carriers are also working towards further cooperation in future, including enabling bookings of each other’s flights on both airlines’ websites, common ground handling operations and service centres, and joint procurement.
