Singapore Airlines has appointed two design firms to update its cabins ready for late 2013.
The carrier has signed up DesignworksUSA, a subsidiary of BMW Group, and James Park Associates (JPA) to revamp its seats and cabin interiors as well as its in-flight entertainment offering. It will initially be rolled out on SIA’s Boeing 777-300ERs in the second half of next year followed by its Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s.
Its economy class will remain ontouched although it is working on an improved seat, space and headrest for travellers across all cabins. Los Angeles-based DesignworksUSA will oversee its new first class cabin and seats, while Singapore-based JPA will work on its business class.
“Working with our own teams in our dedicated Product Innovation Department, and taking into account customer feedback, we are all genuinely excited about the in-flight products that will be introduced from next year, which will improve upon our existing award-winning cabin offerings,” said Tan Pee Teck, SVP product & services at SIA.
Yesterday the carrier announced it will fly from Manchester daily to Singapore from October.
