Lucky Air, which operates flights from the Chinese city of Kunming, has launched operations from its new base in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province.

Last month, the airline received clearance from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to set up a base at Chengdu’s Shuangliu International Airport. And now it has officially become the fifth airline to operate from the city, following Air China, Sichuan Airlines, Chengdu Air and China Eastern Airlines.

Lucky Air has already launched a new daily service from Chengdu to Jiuzhai Huanglong International Airport, the gateway to Sichuan province’s Jiuzhai Valley National Park, and on 30 March it intends to commence daily services to the northeastern cities of Dalian and Tianjin.

Part of the HNA Group, Lucky Air first launched in February 2006 and now operates a fleet of 22 aircraft to 40 domestic destinations, plus an international service to Singapore. As well as Kunming and Chengdu, it also operates flights from Lijiang, in Yunnan province.
