Caissa Tourism Group, the Chinese travel giant operated by the HNA Group, used this week’s ITB Berlin to introduce 12 new inbound routes.
Designed to “boost inbound tourism from multiple perspectives, such as culture, gastronomy, outdoor sports and cruising”, according to Caissa, the tours form part of the Chinese government’s ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ which aims to connect China with the world.
Specifically, the new inbound options include a “zen tour” to famous mountains and temples, a “traditional drama tour”, a Silk Road tour and rail tour, among others.
While much attention is being paid to the strength of the Chinese outbound market, in terms of inbound traffic China is the world’s fourth most-visited country.
