Air China is planning to launch flights to the US city of San Jose, which lies in California’s high-tech hub Silicon Valley.

Commencing on 16 June 2016, the airline will operate thrice weekly direct flights between Shanghai and San Jose.

Services will depart Pudong International Airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1300, arriving at the US city’s Norman Y. Mineta International Airport at 1010. The return flight will leave San Jose at 1200 and get back into Shanghai at 1640 the next day.

Air China will deploy an Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route.

Air China will become the second Chinese airline flying to San Jose, following Hainan Airlines, which commenced the Beijing-San Jose service in June 2015. This also marks the seventh US destination for Air China, following New York, Los Angeles, Houston, San Francisco, Honolulu and Washington DC.
