British Airways launched its new LondonKuala Lumpur route today, marked by celebrity photo-shoot involving Hollywood actress Michelle Yeoh, fashion designer Jimmy Choo and supermodel Georgia May Jagger.

The inaugural flight is due to touch down at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 1435 on Thursday. But prior to this, BA promoted the launch in front of the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, where the three celebrities posed with BA Club World business class seat.

“Malaysia is the place I call home so I think it’s tremendous British Airways have launched a new route linking London and Kuala Lumpur,” Ms Yeoh said.

“There’s so much to see and do here, be it visiting the historic monuments dotted around the city, tasting the mouth-watering delicacies served at our famous street food markets or wandering one of the many art galleries. I was born to the north in the city of Ipoh and it’s just one of the many inspiring places visitors can explore within easy reach during their stay.”

BA will now serve the route daily, using a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft equipped with all four of its cabin classes – first, business, premium economy and economy. On the regular schedule, flights will depart London Heathrow at 2015, arriving at KLIA at 1600 the following day. The return service will then leave KL at 2305, arriving back into London at 1725 the next day.
