Scottish travel group Barrhead Travel has announced plans to launch its own flights from Edinburgh this summer.

The group will expand its charter flights programme with new Saturday flights from the Scottish city to Palma, Majorca from June.

Barrhead already has charter flights from Glasgow to Malaga, Majorca, Barcelona and Venice as well as from Aberdeen to Malaga and Majorca.

The company will use a British Airways aircraft for the flights to offer extra legroom and included baggage allowance.

“In 2013 we embarked on our most ambitious flight programme to date, however, not content with simply increasing the number of flights we also wanted to offer customers the opportunity to travel from multiple locations – including Edinburgh,” said Sharon Munro, chief executive at Barrhead Travel.
