A British Airways pilot found dead last month was accused of child molestation in the UK and Africa, it has been revealed.
Simon Wood from Hertfordshire was due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on Friday about the claims but died on 18 August after being hit by a train.
A law firm representing 12 children in Kenya could now start legal action against BA, which according to the BBC was “shocked and horrified” by the claims.
The airline also told the BBC it was only aware of the accusations in July after it received an anonymous letter. It contacted Scotland Yard after its own investigations raised a “cause for concern”.
Wood was accused of one count of indecent assault of a girl under 16; two counts of indecent photographs and one of possessing an indecent image of a child.
Wood was one of 20 pilots that took part in a trip to Kenya organised by BA in 2002 to provide gifts, medicine and donation to an orphanage.
