British Airways has announced an additional flight from London to Tobago from spring next year.
The route will be operated with a stop in Antigua but the airline said it would be interested in offering a non-stop operation.
“This is being driven by demand on the route and we felt that we could allow visitors to the island the opportunity to stay seven, 11 or 14 days,” said Colm Lacy, BA’s head of commercial Gatwick.
Avion Hercules, marketing manager for the Division of Tourism and Transportation at the Tobago House of Assembly told Travel Daily the route addition shows confidence in the product on the island.
Hotel developments and investment continue including refurbishments to Blue Waters Inn, Bacolet Beach Club and the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort.
A 40-room Chic Hotel in Bon Accord is now also open, with a purchasing agreement signed for the Sanctuary Resort at Black Rock and Manta Lodge in Speyside.
It was also announced as Tobago was named as the host of the British Airways Tobago Football Legends Challenge for June next year. Sixty four former footballers will head out to the island for the tournament.
It comes as Tobago reported a 5% increase in international visitor numbers following the ‘Live the Culture Tobago Style’ campaign.
